A set of data (in English, data set or dataset) is a collection of statistical data, most often presented in tabular form. The data may take numerical, 2D graphical or 3D form, among others. The data made available is tested and reliable, and has been confirmed by publications by its author.
Datasets prepared in this way are made available to researchers together with instructions describing the characteristics of the data and how to use it. Users can test the computational methods and algorithms they have developed. This work makes it possible to verify the correctness of algorithms, to share them, to discuss them and to collaborate. |
