The Robotics Repository
based on Łukasiewicz - PIAP resources

The Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements was established by Resolution No. 55/65 of the Council of Ministers of 15 March 1965 as the leading unit for scientific research and development work. From the very beginning, the Institute’s research on new technologies has usually been combined with the design of equipment and production lines, which makes it possible to apply research achievements directly in industry.

Industrial robots

CPBR 7.1 Industrial Robots

In the second half of the 1980s PIAP coordinated the nationwide Central Research and Development Programme CPBR 7.1 Industrial Robots, in which numerous academic and industrial centres took part.

Industrial robots – in-house work

PR-02 industrial robots

In the 1970s attempts were made in Poland to build domestic robots. The first reasonably successful robots were created at the Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements in Warsaw. These were the PR-02 robots.

IRp and IRb industrial robots

A milestone in Polish robotics was the signing on 29 December 1976 of an agreement with the Swedish company ASEA AB. The agreement covered the production of modern IRb-6 robots with a payload of 6 kg and IRb-60 robots with a payload of 60 kg.

Automation and control systems

POLMATIK National Automation and Measurement System

As part of Comecon cooperation, the POLMATIK National Automation and Measurement System was developed in Poland. The system consisted of three parts – METRO for measurement, INTE for central processing and MOTO for actuation.

CPBR 7.2 Automation

Another CPBR project, this time devoted to the INTELDIGIT-PROWAY distributed control system.

Vibrating-wire devices

Key research problem 06.1

The role of PIAP in the second half of the 1970s and the first half of the 1980s deserves attention, as the Institute then coordinated the nationwide key research problem “Industrial automation”.
